This course counts toward 67.5 hours out of the 150 hours required in play therapy training in order to become a Registered Play Therapy (with the Association for Play Therapy).

Play Therapy Training program, which offers 150 hours of play therapy specific training towards becoming a Registered Play Therapy (through APT). Two play therapy, graduate courses, Introduction to Play Therapy, taught by Mary Anne Assini, LCSW-R, RPT-S once yearly, one evening per week, in the summer; and Advanced Play Therapy, taught by Athena A. Drewes, MA, PsyD, RPT-S, one Saturday, all day, a month over two semesters (September through May).  Together these two courses offer 135 of the 150 hours required by APT. Interested clinicians may audit or attend on a non-matriculated basis. In addition, two full day play therapy workshops are offered through Sage College with the Center for Disability Services (one in the fall and one in the spring).

SUNY Oswego offers a graduate certificate program in play therapy and an annual (summer) seminar in play therapy. Six different play therapy courses are offered throughout the year and vary from semester to semester. The broad sequence of courses in play therapy builds upon one another in a coherent fashion.  Students who complete the certificate program qualify for training to become Certified Play Therapists through the National Institute for Relationship Enhancement and earn the necessary educational credits toward registration as a Registered Play Therapist with the Association for Play Therapy. Play therapy CE certificates available.
